• Conversations #2.13: Chad Crawford

Chad Crawford is the creator of How to Do Florida, one of the most beloved local show ever produced about the Sunshine State . . . From Springs to Wrecks to Swamps, coastline to coastline, he’s brought us the very best Florida has to offer. This week, we’re able to sit down and discuss Chad’s backstory, his hunting pursuits, his other shows, including the Outsiders Club and Flip My Florida Yard, his hopes for Conservation and celebrating our state even more . . . Plus, in an unprecedented move, he turns the interview around on Travis. Find How to Do Florida Here Flip My Florida Yard – check it out…

  • #139: Flip Flops

Have you ever made up your mind on something, only to rethink your take sometime later? That sounds remarkably unfamiliar in this day and age, but we decided to take a run at some things we’ve reconsidered in our outdoor approaches – from baits to boats, duck hunting to dove hunting, hear us flip flop our way through our adventures. Plus, Keep and Release is back, Nate talks weather, Em talks surge arrestors, and Travis talks baseball.  Also, new band names. Go to Patreon and become a friend of the show OFFICIALLY here! • #138: Stuff my Dad Says

Nate’s on another vacation/honeymoon, leaving Em and Travis alone to tend to the shop. So we took a run at some of our favorite dad’s in pop culture, plus a review of our listeners’ dads’ favorite sayings! Plus a release of Travis displaying very un-dad-like behavior in an Ikea! • #137: Fiances, Fudd, & Fishing

For the first time in what seems like a million years, the gang is ALL.  HERE. We play catch-up this week, discussing wildlife aspects in interior design (read: fly rods and taxidermy on the walls), the lack of someone filling the “Official Fiance of the Show” role, topwater fishing, hurricane season, Elmer Fudd, and more . . . • Conversations 2.12: Marcia Brownlee, Artemis Sportswoman

Women in the outdoors is a topic that is all over the landscape. This week, we were privileged to chat with the Program Manager for Artemis, a National Wildlife Federation Organization aimed at growing a community of women in hunting and fishing.  Marcia Brownlee takes us through her journey, both hunting and fishing, and explains Artemis as the program expands beyond it’s western roots! • Bonus Episode: Field of Dreams

We’re on Vacation this week, which means a Bonus Episode! If you’re here for hunting and fishing, check back Thursday for a great conversation about Artemis Sportswomen and a fantastic story of how the Program Manager got into hunting! But, in the meantime, so we don’t get penalized by the Apple Overlords, here are some random thoughts on the 1989 Kevin Costner Classic, Field of Dreams . . . PS – if you know someone who’s not always down to talk hunting, fishing, or conservation, this might be a great episode to introduce them to our platform.  Provided they like the movie.  If not, just don’t tell them! • Conversations 2.11: Dr. Richard Chandler

Recently, FWC revealed the final product of the South Florida Deer Study, a multi year paper that provided a in depth examination of how deer in both Big Cypress and Panther NWR behave and are affected by hunters, predators, and hydrology. This study is remarkably timely, given the backdrop of the Western Everglades Restoration Project coupled with hunters observations of the Big Cypress deer herd. The study can be found on FWC’s website or you can find it on Dr. Chandler’s site here, where you can also follow Dr. Chandler’s other works. • #136: the One about Conservation

What happens when you take an article entitled “The Message of Conservation Failed” and mix it with the North American Conservation Model, Space X, the National Wildlife Refuge System, and Fisheries Management, while at the same time giving the funny host the week off and letting the other one take a break to (airquotes) “get married” . . . • Conversations 2.9: Danielle Kirkland, FWC Invasive Plant Management

Chances are, if you’re listening to an outdoors podcast, you’ve heard some mention of the topic of Spraying.  We toss around binary concepts – stop spraying, ban chemicals, poison . . . In this week’s conversation, we take a measured approach with an expert on the subject, FWC’s Danielle Kirkland, a leader in the state’s Invasive Plant Management Team. We go into detail on why spraying occurs, why natives matter, why managing invasives needs to continue, how herbicides are approved for usage, the creation of muck, lake levels, and pay to spray – plus why Danielle does what she does . . . You do not want to miss this…

  • #133: Water

The Savings Clause.  WRDA.  Lake Levels.  LOSOM. LORS. Everglades Restoration. What does all of it mean? This week, we give our takes on the things you hear so much about on a recurring basis from so many of the non-profits – we’re not experts, but we try to take an inquisitive and thoughtful approach to what’s going on with Florida’s most precious resource . . .
